THE MUIR SENTINELS Guarding the rocky coast of Nova Scotia, massive granite boulders cluster in a heroic attempt to hold back the Atlantic—seawalls built by anonymous fishers and folk from a time when backhoes were horses and backs were sore. Photographed in the historic fishing village of Blue Rocks by Nova Scotia born artist Tim Forbes, SENTINELS is a portrait series in stone—raw mass holding quiet power in sculptural form, seasoned with the colours of lichen and salt.
Originally commissioned in collaboration with GZArtCo, as an inaugural collection for installation throughout MUIR, Nova Scotia’s first 5-star hotel for Marriott Luxury, the SENTINEL series is available for 2025 in a special Artist Edition.
